      1. exactly! that’s the portrayal that I had read about. Thanks again. I hope to travel to Ecuador sometime in the next year.

    2. One of my favorite parts of living in Quito in 2010 was the feminist graffiti. One I’ll always remember was where a woman had written “Where was God when I was raped?”

      There was also graffiti all over town that simply said “safe abortion” and had a phone number. In fact, a guerrilla feminist group there unveiled a huge banner that said that… on the giant Virgin Mary statue that overlooks the city. VERY badass. It happened before I was there but I saw pictures.

      My favorite was this happier phrase a woman had written all over town: “I’m so happy I discovered my clitoris.”
